Our Group Findings

(Fashion Industry) At first my topic was hard to find any valid sources on because the same thing would come up, but as I learned from the library days, I remember to change diction and put in similar words that relate to fashion. Once I did that, I began to find different articles that I wanted to learn more about, such as the history and how generations cope with the different styles of fashion. This research project was definitely a rollercoaster ride because of the amount of work that had to be done and the number of readings I had look up. I had days were I would stare at the sources on screen and couldn’t think of how to correlate it back to culture and technology. But now that I am done with this project, it feels rewarding to know that I now have the experience in knowing how to create blogs and doing valid research and where I can find scholarly sources. I learned a lot about the fashion industry too by learning the different trends through out the decades and different methods of making clothes, whether by using technology or not.

After doing my research on the effects of technology towards the Fashion Industry, the most important thing I learned was that the fashion industry have always been changing since the introduction of mass production during the industrial revolution. But it’s the way how technology is used that will either benefit or be an disadvantage towards the fashion industry, depending on which side of the business you are in. (Consumer or Producer). One phrase I will always remember about fashion trends is “Renew, Reuse, Recycle.”

(Communication)

The findings I have found are very surprising for what I first believed it would be about. What I have found is that with technology advancing people aren’t really changing. I mean they are changing in a different language barrier or slang. But children are actually doing better in school even with a shorter attention span. Its surprising that people are doing better with technology. But there were some bumps as in the way like how the  youth is acting based off of communication devices. They are acting less mature and this is effecting how children act in our culture. Lastly What I have  acquired through my extensive research is that  technology has made many cultures work faster and quicker then  ever before but people have only gotten more impatient from this. Communication is at a  all time record at speed but will it speed up any more and what would those next steps be?

(Motion Picture)

Before doing this research, I feel like we take movies and videos for granted all the time because they are everywhere. You watch in a cinema, on your TV screen, on your phone, in your social media feed, and even on billboards. From its creation till now, we have seen many innovation in the techniques used to produce movies and videos. During my research, searching using the keyword “film” and “technology” does not really give you the exact article or source that you want to talk about, but after learning search techniques from my ENGL&102 class, every time I want to search something, I narrowed it down into specific sub-topics, like CGI, social media, animatronics, the context of motion picture, film’s influence in society, et cetera.

I find it really exciting that people has innovated so many technology that really has an impact on society, and we should continue to learn from mistakes to innovate more technologies and integrated in our works, including making films and movies. From the amazing performance by Andy Serkis as Golumm, to how they made a tyrannosaurus rex alive in the big screen, and how 3-D technology affects the audience, we can thank all this to people that has worked hard to innovate those technology and let other people use it to make wonders in cinema. After doing this research I realized how impactful technology is in the process of making motion picture.

(Discrimination)

My research went exceptionally well. There were many ideas projected by many people that i have puzzled together to create this section of the blog post. the findings i found were not really surprising because i have been looking into this subject for a while now and shoot, i experience this discrimination as well s many other people. It just reminded me of how messed up out social systems are. Its fascinating to see how someone can discriminate against others who are perfectly equal to them. i dont understand how of=r why these racist individuals feel obligates or think its the new ting to do to be overly disrespectful and discriminatory towards another culture, race, religion, ethnicity , etc..

I noticed many people learn from those of higher social status fr class. for example our current president. they see him talking so negatively about minority groups so then they start to pick up on that.

Being racist or discriminating against someone because of their background or culture is  not a good look. Stay kind my friends.

(Culture Identity)

While doing my individual research in the beginning it was extremely hard for me and I contemplated on changing my subtopic more than once and almost went through with it with a last minute decision I wanted to do cultural medicine as it seemed there would be more to research it those regards. I decided not to because I had already done so much work plus I didn’t want to take the easy way out. I learned a lot about my subtopic and I think after I’m done with this project I will continue to learn more everyday. I found it interesting that technology alone opened up new job opportunities and that alone created globalization.  I think that the hardest thing I encountered while doing this project was definitely finding articles that related to my subtopic. Luckily all the sources I did have minus one I believe didn’t have an author but inside the article it had an authors name so I am not to sure if it was trust worthy or not. This project seemed easy going in but it was nothing close to that.

From our subtopics of motion picture, fashion industry, communication, discrimination and cultural identity, we have found that the usage of technology has had a big influence on how culture is portrayed. Technology could either make it better or worse, and it is up to us, the people, to make sure that technology will improve our culture, not make it worse.
